Kicking off their career with a highly successful debut tour in Norway in 2002, the Nordic Saxophone Quartet (NSQ) and its members continues their ambitious work in collaborating with composers and musicians from all over the world. The ensemble consists of four of the most prominent saxophonist of Scandinavia who continuously tours the world with recent performances in Argentina, Poland, South Africa, USA, Ukraine, the Baltic countries, Iran, France, Turkey and the Nordic countries. The quartet has performed in prestigious halls like Lysenko hall of National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kiev, Centro Cultural Kirschner in Buenos Aires, grand hall of Lviv Philharmonic, Grünewaldssalen at Stockholm Concert House and at Odessa Jazzfest, Nova arts and Architecture festival in Torun/Poland, Kontrast Festival in Lviv/Ukraine

Both press and audience have hailed the NSQ for its delicate and sensitive musicianship.

The quartet has given world premieres by numerous composers including Charlotte Bray, Andrea Tarrodi, Volodymyr Runchak, Asmati Chibalashvili, Molly Kien, Björn Bolstad Skjelbred a.o. and recently released their new project Hommage á Coltrane at a sold-out Stockholm Concert House with brand new pieces by composers Andrea Tarrodi, Molly Kien, Per Egland and Katarina Leyman dedicated to the quartet.

Since 2014 the Nordic Saxophone Quartet is collaborating with world-renowned saxophone maker Henri Selmer Paris as well as Swedish wind instrument retailer Jonas Näslund AB.

Kunobröderna - en musikalisk roadmovie

Den här berättelsen tar sin början på Kunoön i Luleås yttersta skärgård 1867. Där bodde Kunobröderna – fiskare, bönder och båtbyggare som alla tyckte om att sjunga.

Sjunger gör de med hjälp av sina saxofoner, i denna genomkoreograferade föreställning där musikerna agerar med sina instrument i ett halsbrytande äventyr som tar dem hela vägen till Amerika och tillbaka till sin älskade ö igen.

I centrum för denna musikaliska road-movie fylld av värme, humor, allvar och historia står berättaren Fredric Thurfjell, född och uppvuxen i Luleå. Det är också han som skrivit och regisserat föreställningen som han framför tillsammans med Nordiska Saxofonkvartetten bestående av Johannes Thorell, sopransaxofon, Martin Eriksson, altsaxofon, Mathias Karlsen Björnstad, tenorsaxofon ochAnna Magnusson, barytonsaxofon. Musiken är komponerad av Ida Lundén, Per Egland, Martina Tomneroch Ylva Fred.
